Download Jai Mata Vaibhav Laxmi Part 1 in Hindi Dhanteras is the festival celebrated on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja. This festival is celebrated in autumn so it marks the beginning of Navratri and Dussehra. The word Dhanteras is derived from two Sanskrit words: ‘dhan’ means wealth and ‘teras’ means fast. It also holds an important significance for Hindu women because it signifies that they can expect a complete year of prosperity and joy, which will be followed by Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth herself. Lakshmi Puja has its origins in India’s pre-Hinduism era. The lore of goddess Lakshmi is based on her association with Vishnu. She is the consort of Vishnu, the preserver and judge of the world, whose seven forms are known as Navagrahas. As part of her worship, there are certain auspicious things to be done by Hindu women at this time. Dhanteras is the season when these rituals are performed periodically to ensure good fortunes for the year to come. The festival begins with Lakshmi Puja, which usually takes place on 14th day after Diwali ends. There are nine forms of goddess Lakshmi. Each form has been associated with a variety of arts, crafts, gifts and food items. It is believed that on this day, Lakshmi in her inauspicious form of Krodhini receives a bath with the nine holy items in a silver or brass loha kalash, which is brought home from a puja pandal specially erected for the occasion. Lakshmi Puja is performed every evening at six o’clock by the youngest wife of the house. In her honor, all other family members give her gifts and money on this day. After dining together as a family, Lakshmi Pooja begins. This practice may be altered depending on the family’s traditions. It is important that Lakshmi Pooja rituals are performed every day during the nine days of Navratri. Each night, Lakshmi Puja begins with lighting an earthen lamp and chanting mantras for her well-being and prosperity. The following are the essential things required for performing this puja:The customary importance of these items can range from mild to extreme importance, depending on the family tradition. Apart from these items, there are also other symbols of Goddess Laxmi too that can be used in place of these items, if required. The puja is performed between 6–9 pm. It can be performed daily without fasting. In this puja, the nine paanis are offered to Lakshmi and goddess sit on a silver or brass Loha Kalash with the sacred items that have been obtained from the previous day’s puja pandal. After this, each item is placed facing downward in order of increasing importance:This ritual is considered to be very auspicious to ensure that all year round, Lakshmi will shower blessings on her devotees. Also during this ritual, red powder (ajrak) is offered at her feet along with lighted lamps. cfa1e77820
